An Overview of Flexible Current Control Strategies Applied to LVRT Capability for Grid-Connected Inverters

Distributed power generation plays a critical role in the stability and reliability of modern systems. Due to rapid growth renewable energy generation, requirements transmission distribution system operators are becoming more stringent. Among these requirements, one most important is Low-Voltage Ride-Through (LVRT) capability, which demands that inverters remain connected grid provide support during voltage sags. For this purpose, flexible current control algorithms stand out because they can manage unbalanced voltages simultaneously achieve other objectives. With aim presenting concrete document focused on describing fundamental principles discussing common design guidelines, paper presents an overview strategies applied LVRT capability. The operation features aspects experiences reported literature reviewed. Moreover, proposes general methodology algorithms. Finally, future trends discussed.
